Guild’s 1970s S-100 dual cutaway solid Mahogany body is shaped very similar to the Gibson SG, but with asymmetrical horns. Between 1974 and 1977 Guild produced a deluxe version, featuring a hand-carved acorn and oak leaf pattern on the front. These S100SC (Special Carved) guitars were available in Natural or Cherry finish. Here we have a rare 1975 Cherry S100SC, complete with its original Guild HB1 humbucker pickups. These are in vintage PAF tone territory, controlled by four knobs, a three-way switch plus a phase toggle switch on the bridge pickup. This guitar retains its original Guild-branded Schaller tuners and hardware but at some stage in its career lost its Guild Bigsby. The string retainer from the Bigsby remains, but an aftermarket Ibanez tailpiece is fitted. The Guild bridge with individual height and string spacing adjustment is original. Two knobs are non-Guild, as is the truss rod cover. Neck feel is fabulous with bound fretboard and block markers, great profile and recently dressed frets. A smooth playing experience and great tones from this fine vintage solid body. Comes with its original hard case which has done many miles but is functional.
