Don Morrison has been hand-making resonator guitars, mandolins and ukes in his workshop in Adelaide, South Australia for over 25 years, with most of the guitars going to eager buyers in the USA. Don’s signature instruments are his ‘Rustbucket’ series, made from reclaimed galvanised iron, the older the better. In this case the Lysaght / ‘Orb’ logo on the back of the body identifies the metal as originating from one of Australia’s oldest iron makers, a pioneer in galvanising technology since 1880. This guitar has been beautifully looked after by it’s one owner and feels great in hand, weighing in at just 2.9kg, with a loud and respoonsive voice as designed, with no rattles or buzzes from the cone. The medium action is perfectly set for comfortable standard playing, but high enough for bottleneck / open tunings if preferred. There is a passive pickup installed with output jack on the lower treble bout, so no problem for stage work if required. Comes with a good quality black hard case that fits the guitar well. A unique and charming resonator!
