1969 Fender Telecaster Thinline 

As many Telecaster aficionados would know, by the late 1960s the light-weight Ash used in Telecaster bodies was in short supply, and Fender started experimenting with weight relief in Telecaster bodies. Under the direction of Roger Rossmeisl, this resulted in the ‘first version’ Telecaster Thinlines with semi-hollow natural Ash or Mahogany bodies arriving in mid-1968. Here we have an exceptional Mahogany-bodied example,  with neck date May 1969.

Weighing in at 2.67kg (5lbs 14oz) this Tele Thinline is in excellent original condition throughout. The Mahogany body is clean apart from two marks near the bass f-hole and a bump near the input jack. The tuners, pickguard, pickups, bridge and other metal hardware are all original. The only changes are two newer CTS pots and compensated bridge saddles fitted (original  saddles are in the case).

The subtley-figured one-piece Maple ‘B’ neck is a particular feature of this guitar, with its 42mm nut width and a very vintage-feeling full D-shape neck profile. The original frets are in 90% condition, making for a very smooth playing experience.  This fine Thinline comes its original orange-lined black Tolex Fender case also in excellent shape.
