Based in Austin Texas, by the 2000’s Bill Collings’ acoustic guitars were well established as among the finest in the world. For a few years only from 2010 to 2014, his workshop also produced ukuleles of the highest quality. From that era, and the original owner, we have this beautiful Collings Tenor (17” scale length) uke, dating to March 2013. Finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, the top, back and sides are all AAA-grade flamed Koa. The neck is Honduran Mahogany, while the bound Rosewood fingerboard, bridge and headstock veneer are all Rosewood ivoroid binding and headstock inlay. The lightweight ‘Peghed’ tuners have the appearance of traditional friction tuners but contain a 4:1 ratio mechanism. The tone, volume, and playablity of this one-owner instrument are exceptional. A rare professional-grade ukulele, its original form fit case and documentation.
