Fender CIJ ’52 Telecaster 2006-07

The quality of Fender Japan Strats and Teles from the early 1980s through to the present is a well documented story that we don’t need to cover here.  However, within that broad product range there are individual models and instruments that stand out.  The Japanese attention to detail that captures the look, tone and feel of an early 50s Telecaster is  notable, and this S-serial example from 2006 definitely stands out as a player.

As a 52 reissue it has the vintage fundamentals of a light weight ash body, and a full, deep V neck. As a TX52, it came equipped with two USA Texas Special pickups.  On this guitar the neck pickup has been changed to a Lollar Royal T, designed to give Strat tones, while the bridge is the original Texas special.  Both sound great. Fender Japan called this finish ‘Old White Blonde’, one of two options for their TX52 model, along with Natural Butterscotch. Vintage details abound, especially in the deep V neck profile and including all the hardware, knobs, the brass bridge saddles and the use of straight slot screw heads throughout (Phillips Head screws did not become available until 1953-54).  This is a very nice Blackguard Tele option in excellent condition.
