Goldentone ‘Reverbmaster 40’ amp 1963/64

$1,750.00

1963-64 was the last period during which Goldentone amps were finished in cream or grey Tolex. Old catalogues indicate this model as the ‘SlimLine’ in 1963, but in ’64 the ‘Reverbmaster’ name applied. From ’65 onwards the whole range moved to black Tolex finishes.

Here we have an amp that was played on the NSW south coast, but stored in a shed for many years until 2024. When the amp came to us a good clean was needed, but due to the dry shed, a full electronic inspection and service by Mirek Ciolek here in Canberra required only minor  replaced components. Due to the semi-sealed design of the cabinet, the original two Rola 12U50 15ohm 12″ speakers are in perfect condition. All controls work and both the spring reverb and tremolo functions are strong. Almost all the original knobs were missing and we have supplied a set of new chicken-heads.  The original footwsitch for Reverb and Tremolo functions was MIA, so a new one is supplied.

From its time as a working amp there are cosmetic bumps, scrapes and stains but overall this amp looks great and sounds as good as it looks. With 40 watts of valve tone, plus spring reverb and tremolo into two pristine 12″ Rolas in the charming grey cabinet, this is an outstanding vintage Aussie amp.
