Ibanez R-400 ‘Ragtime Special’ 1982

This Ibanez R-400 “Ragtime Special” is a laminated spruce top/laminated mahogany acoustic with an extended (24-frets on the top two treble strings) fretboard, and styling very reminiscent of Django Reinhardt’s Maccaferri Selmer acoustic models. The compact body size of 15″ lower bout and 4″ body depth, together with the body materials contribute to a bright, responsive and well-balanced voice – perfect for Ragtime and Gypsy Jazz styles., but versatile for any style, providine ease of playing and access to the full fretboard.

Built in Japan in 1982, the guitar shows excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail, with deep cutaway, attractive sound hole ‘grande bouche’ overlay, and multiple binding around the top, back and headstock.  Quality Ibanez-branded Gotoh tuners, a dark Rosewood fretboard and Ebony bridge top off the appointments. The original frets are 90%, and neck set is good.  Overall, this well-cared-for one owner guitar is a pleasure to play, and great value too. Comes with a gig bag.
