Johnson Resonator Guitar 2005

$750.00

The Johnson factory in China was set up in 1993 by California company Music Link and has specialised in affordable resonator guitars ever since. Here we have an excellent example dating to 1995, the year in which Johnson won ‘best Chinese manufacturer’ at the NAMM show in the USA. There’s a laminated Mahogany body, single National style convex cone* with traditional ‘Biscuit’ bridge, two f-holes and pre-war-style slotted headstock. Well made with good quality nickel-plated cover plate, tailpiece and strong 3-on -a-plate tuners, the body is bound top and back, and the neck has a nice vintage feel with 1-11/16 nut width and vintage-style soft V profile. The adjustable truss rod is functioning correctly. Set up to play  with a medium action that works well in either open tunings or standard with a big sustainy voice. Condition is very good ++ with only light playing wear to body; frets are 95%. Comes with a generic gig bag but enquire as we often have some hard case options.

(*Dobro style concave cone with aluminium spider is more frequently found in country music; the more ‘direct’ convex National cone system is generally favoured by blues and roots players).
