Maton Alver 1966

$1,150.00

Named for Alma and Vera, the respective wives of Maton founder Bill May and his brother Reg, the Alver brand extended  Maton’s offerings in the 1950s and ’60s.  This lightweight single-cut 16″ wide 4″ deep laminated arch top body style was used on many Maton and Alver variants for good reason: it’s a strong, light, super resonant and versatile design whether in acoustic or electric form. The asymmetric headstock shape and pencilled Batch Number (B.168) on the interior Maton label places this Alver in the mid 1960s, yet this Alver is almost ‘as new’ in looks and performance. At 4lbs20z the light weight gives a lively voice and with its (Martin-style non-adjusable) steel rod fitted, the neck is strong and straight; frets as new.  The neck set, nut, bridge, tailpiece, pickguard and tuners  are all in excellent original and functional condition. Aesthetically it stands out as real ’60s statement in red and white, and it’s original green-lined black Stamford hard case is also in excellent condition.
