SOLD – Maton EG45A 1962

$2,250.00

This is one of the cleanest Maton EG45A /Premier full bodied cutaway guitars we have seen.  Documentation with the guitar from Maton dates it to mid 1962.  The  ‘A’ designation indicates two  pickups  (Maton used ‘S’ for single pickup variants).  The bound pale burst finish is very attractive, at 6.5 lbs this guitar is very light and resonant.  The single coil pickups – we believe wound by Bert Moody for Maton – are strong with P90-ish characteristics, controls are volume, tone with cute chicken-head 3-way selector switch.  The guitar plays very smoothly and pickups are strong. Fret wear is neglible.  Very confortable to play with 1-11/16” nut width, a full C shape and a fretboard radius of 9.5″. A charming and attractive vintage Maton, with 2-tone Stamford 1960s hard case as shown.
