As the premier maker of musical instruments in Japan, Yamaha’s first acoustic guitars appeared in the 1940s. In the post WW2 period, their first nylon string model (labelled ‘Yamaha Dynamic’) evolved into the more refined S-50 range in the 1960s. In so doing Yamaha introduced the process of laminating grain-aligned spruce and mahogany, giving solid wood tone with greater strength and stability. The S-50 range features internal bracing suitable to either nylon or steel strings, making these guitars versatile for classical, folk, gypsy jazz and other styles. With serial number 1289329 this is a totally original, own-owner S50-A, purchased new in Canberra around 1969. Lightly played and rare to find in such clean condition throughout, this is a great student / intermediate level vintage Yamaha. Comes with a gig bag but we can provide case options on request.
