Fender Stratocaster MIJ (Fujigen) 1987

The history of Fender during the 1980s includes an important connection between the then-new Fender management team in the USA  and Fujigen in Japan, the creation of Fender Japan while the new USA factories in Corona USA were built, but then contiuued for the Japanese domestic market. By the late 1980s Fender Japan was producing a range of variants, including Stratocasters with the 1970s style larger headstocks and 5-way switch and (for a brief period)  USA style E-series serial numbers on the headstock as seen here.  This example from 1987 reflects the advanced finesse of those MIJ Fenders, and has the added attraction of being a true closet classic, with virtually no playing wear. Untill we set it up recently this guitar was still had its original  1980s Fender strings with the ‘bullet’ ends.  No freet wear, no dings or marks, great to play and a comfy 8lb weight, this is a great 36 year old Stratocaster with pristine vintage looks, tone and feel.  A decent hard case completes the picture.
