Sakai ‘EB’ Bass c.1975
$850.00
In the Japanese instrument-making centre of Nagoya, Masao Sakai founded the Sakai Mokko company in the 1960s, and by the 1970s the company was very active sending Gibson style guitars and basses to Australia. From that era comes this Sakai EB/SG bass, in very good condition along with its original gold-lined black hard case, also fully functional. The bass’s one-piece Mahogany body is well matched with an excellent straight neck and dark Rosewood fretboard. According to the Frank Meyers’ book ‘History of Japanese Electric Guitars’, this bass’s large (10.15ohm) single-coil pickup and pots were made for Sakai by Eddie Wakayama’s Mitsuya Electronics. Whatever Eddie was doing at the time, this bass sounds good! It has a big bass voice with smooth volume and tone controls. This nice playing, light weight (3.25kg) classic vintage EB style bass with case is ready to gig, at a nice price.
