This 1955 P-Bass came from the Fender Custom Shop in 2015 to its first owner, a well-known Canberra bass player who sadly passed away before it had much playing time, at which point the bass went into storage. Now available, the bass comes complete with its original blonde Fender case, Certificate of Authenticity, and complete package of accessories. As befits a top range CS bass, this has a one-piece ash body with selected Northern Rock Maple soft-V profile neck, both with gentle Custm Shop relic treatment that gives this bass an authentic vintage feel in the hand. At 3.65kgs, (just over 8lbs) this is a lightweight bass. While the initial ’54 P-bass version had a ‘slab’ body, this is based on the ’55 version with the soft body contours, like a Stratocaster. The pickup is a hand-wound Custom Shop unit, along with vintage-correct wiring, pot values etc, for strong, classic Fender bass tone. Definitely capturing the early P-bass vintage look, feel and tone, this fine bass is in ‘as new’ condition, with its original case, CoA and case accessories.
