1930s Kay Kraft Venetian Archtop

Here we have an unusual and rare 1930’s Kay Kraft ‘Style A’ archtop acoustic guitar in good playing order for its age. This  unique round-soundhole archtop design echoes the style of Venetian Mandolins from last century. Construction comprises an arched spruce top, arched maple back and sides, and a deep V-profile mahogany neck with a black-dyed Maple fretboard. Light weight at just over 3lbs5oz  (1.81kg) this vintage rarity plays well, with an open and responsive midrange tonality that particularly suits Blues and Gypsy jazz. The nut width is 1-3/4” and scale length 25-3/4”. The adjustable bridge and nickel tailpiece are original. The guitar also features a functional neck / body tilt system allowing the action to be adjusted by loosening a butterfly nut inside the soundhole on the heel block.  Very DeLuxe for the 1930s is the pearloid veneer and gold Kay Kraft script adorning the headstock, which is complete with its functional original open gear strip tuners with white ivoroid buttons, but does feature a strong and stable repair at the heel. A playable rarity that is more than capable of being gigged with, this small canon comes with a generic older but functional brown 00 size hard case.
