1969 Yamaha SG5A

Designed with input from Japan’s first surf-music electric guitar hero, Takashi ‘Terry’ Terauchi, the Yamaha SG5A qualifies as one of the ultimate creative designs among MIJ electrics. A short summary of its many features include: straight-thru string tension via the elongated headstock, a zero fret for perfect string height at the nut, dark Rosewood fretboard with Fender-style 7.25” radius, a one-piece neck from the top of headstock through to the extension beyond the heel well into the body under the neck pickup and three single coil pickups in a unique set up with the ‘Balance’ knob giving blend options for the two pickups paired closest to the bridge. Comes with its original hard shell case. NB: The original tremolo arm system is included but currently not inserted into the guitar – see photo of case. The serial. number on the neck plate reads MG69. There’s an excellent detailed video of all the features of the SG5A here:
