With so many innovations in Fender’s early history, it’s easy to forget that a functional and portable electric bass didn’t exist until Fender created the Precision Bass in the early 1950s. Initially a slab shape, the P-bass body received contours after the 1954 release of the Stratocaster. In this example we have  the perfect  combination of a contoured light-weight ash body, comfortable one-piece subtley-flamed Soft “V” maple neck / fretboard with rolled edges and warm woody feel, plus a Custom Shop hand-wound ’55 Precision Bass pickup and all other high-spec CustomShop parts. Made in 2015, this light (8.1lb) 1955 Custom Shop Relic P-bass definitely captures the classic vintage Fender look, feel and sound, and is in ‘as new’ condition, with original case, COA and all case accessories.
